Adam Niewood
"Introducing Adam Niewood"
The debut album from this up-and-coming New York-based saxophonist. Hailed by sax greats Phil Woods and Dave Liebman as one of the brightest upcoming talents, Adam was selected as a finalist in the 2002 World Saxophone Competition. His new album, produced by Bill Goodwin, features performances by pianist Eric Lewis (Wynton Marsalis), bassist Matt Brewer (Peter Cincotti, Greg Osby), and drummer Ben Perowsky (Bob Berg, Dave Douglas, Pat Martino, Mike Stern). Among several original tracks penned by Niewood and Lewis, such as "Kay Marie," "Shorty's Shuffle," and "Philly Groove," the album features a new version of the Beatles' "And I Love Her," and classic versions of McCoy Tyner's "Blues For Ball" and Wayne Shorter's "Pinocchio." Over 66 minutes of playing time.
